My name is Abigail, and I am an AP Art student exploring the ideas of the divine feminine and the livelihood of girls and women connecting to their autonomy.

As a girl who has struggled with the concept of womanhood, especially in a society that does not particularly favor the natural woman, I have explored being genderless, nonbinary, or even entertaining the idea of being a man in the wrong body. (Looking back on that now, I blame the internet for teaching me what a girl was supposed to look like, making me think I could not fit into that slim label.) As I get older, I have come to appreciate my womanhood in its natural state, and look to explore what it means to be a woman.

[Questions_&_Answers]

Q: What does the site's color pallete mean?
A: The colors Purple, Green and White symbolize the pallete of Women's History Month in March. Purple is recognized as the international color for women & gender equality, Green represents growth, hope, and new beginnings, and White represents freedom and truth.

Q: What does this have to do with an AP Art portfolio?
A: During my first run as an AP art student, I severely underestimated the amount of writing that would be necessary for a well thought-out portfolio. Turns out, there's an equal amount of composing a significance to your art and actually creating the art. So, I decided to gather an understanding of my inquiry through a hobby of mine: coding a website.

Q: Why is the site's name "Moon Slut"?
A: The name might seem innapropriate, and it might be, but I believe good art disturbs the comforted and comforts the disturbed. The title of this project is in an attempt to reclaim the term "slut," especially regarding how it is used in terms of men's vocabulary. Women are often slut-shamed when having sexual encounters, which I think is bullshit. More on this topic in a later post.
